First time I ever heard it was on Ricky's Highways & Heartaches record. Back then I thought Bruce Bouton wrote it
Ray Flacke on guitar and Bobby Hicks on fiddle - not too shabby either. That was a GREAT band and a fun era for country music. |

Back in the early 80s, a few of the members of the band I was in then, along with myself, went to see Ricky at Sunset Park, a small venue in southeastern PA. We had made a sign to take along and unfurled it during the show. It said, "We Love You Ray". We are fairly sure that Ricky was not too pleased about that. After all, he did have the nickname "picky Ricky". After the show, we got to meet Ray, and I was ecstatic, being a pedal steel player, getting to meet Bruce and talk with him for some time. |
