My take so far is I like it real good. the setting I have made that is just what I am wanting to hear is great just a tiny bit more tweaking. I have also found out that the acoustic sounds awesome sitting here by my self but when I play with a good track thru my system I use the same settings on the clean channel and it cuts thru much better. I know you can tweak it but I like playing by myself and it has what I am wanting to hear. Also I just play E9th. can't wait to put 2 of them together then use one on acoustic and one on clean. I have used stereo steel for years. And if I used 2 of the Katana amps I would be satisfied with it. Need to check one out. At 329 you are not going to find a good steel sound. I have tried it with the Mustang 3 as others have I own 3 of them and the Katana blows them away for pedal steel. Lyle.

I've had a Katana 100 since Sept. and it gives me the sound I've been looking for.
I had the chance to A/B it with a popular $2500.00 amp with a 15" speaker at a jam. The overwhelming consensus was; my $300.00 amp sounded as good.
BTW, at least 4 have been purchased after hearing or playing through mine.

John, I'd rather not mention the brand. I will say it's a great sounding amp.

Wesley: I'm sure we would all appreciate the settings you got and your impressions. Huge amount of talk and sharing of settings on some guitar gear page website and facebook, probably one of the most active forums, unfortunately it's focused on metal and blues, love the blues, not a big fan of metal, sharing impressions and settings on this inexpensive light weigh amp would help us all.
Thanks in advance,
Bruce

I'm getting a VERY acceptable tone out of my KAT50 now. Settings are
Acoustic
Gain 0-9 oclock
Volume 12 oclock
bass all the way on
mid 2-3 oclock
treble 12-1 oclock
Boost off
reverb/delay about 9-12 oclock

Still get a kind of "zing" sometimes but I think it may be a technique thing

I have it on 45 day trial from GC,,,I'll probably take it back and get the KAT100, although I think this would actually handle small venues fine.

Last August I wrote this:
"I ordered a Katana 100 head, and also bought a Line6 single 12" (8 ohm Celestion) cab. Line6 website can give you the freq. specs on their speaker. The cab is closed back, but with front facing ports on the baffle."

... and ended my post promising to give an update after using this rig for a while.

Keeping in mind, I have 3 amps I currently am using... Mustang I (with modified 10" Celestion speaker); The Katana Head/Line6 Cab; and a Quilter "Steelaire"..... so I've been using the Kat 100 Head for the "in-between sized venues....

I'm actually very pleased with the tone and response of both the head, and the Line6 cabinet.... and to me it's a real plus being able to program 4 FX channels, and leave my larger pedal board for the casinos, fairs, ect. I also ordered the boss remote channel selector pedal, and it fits nicely between my left front and rear legs.

Hope this helps.

Has anyone used the Boss Tone Studio to create and save any patches?

I have used the app and it is very good. You can save your banks of presets to the computer and reshuffle them and reload if needed. The program is very complete and you can spend hours tweaking if that is your thing.

Thats not really my thing. LOL! I thought someone may have a patch that their proud of that I can upload. My goal is to save the settings of my gigging amp and upload them into my spare Katana. I assume thats possible. I'll probably fool around and tweak those settings, but I want the exact same thing on the other amp.

I have two settings patches saved from the Boss tone studio for steel. One for My Push/Pull and one for My Rittenberry since they are completely different instruments. Ive gigged with this amp exclusively since April and all I do is adjust the master volume and the presence to accommodate for the room I play in. I have them saved if you want them and you can tweak accordingly.

Been experimenting with a great Ronnie Milsap tune "I hate you". Just a great country tune. I used band in the box and had some fun in my spare time. Used the Katana.

I used my Katana's direct out to record pedal steel on this arrangement of River in the Rain.

I'm playing a Carter SD10 with XR-16, and Hilton VP.

I don't have a comparison using a mic. But it faithfully captured what I heard through the 12" speaker. And the signal was quiet.

I got a nice setting from Mike Salley, considering how popular the Katana is let's figure out a way to share patches.

Update: I bought my Katana in September at SG of Nashville and have been using it exclusively since. I love this amp - I've dialed in a sweet tone that rivals my Twin....all good for me!

The only amps I've ever played steel through are my old blackface Twin and my early model silver corner Nashville 400 with the original version Black Widow.

How would the 100 watt combo compare to the Nashville 400. Is the bottom end good enough to play E9 in a Country band?

Thanks for your support!
