Great LP, I still have it !. It was one of the first Steel guitar records I ever bought on a road trip thru Nashville maybe around 1975.

But, side story, I didn't buy it because I knew who Curly was, I didn't, I bought it because it had the Sho Bud on the cover and looked kool !

truth ! Laughing

His playing is highly emotionally and playful. He takes lots of risks and manages to land on his feet when others would crash and burn.

But the album was cut with a Fender 1000 or 2000. Exact model I can't remember. But definitely one or the other.

WHFB is a radio station in Benton Harbor, Michigan. I assume that's what those letters are on the album cover. Since nobody asked.

Maybe that Sho Bud is more photogenic than the Fender that he played on the album? Or he lost a bet with Shot & Buddy...

right, there is some debate going on which one it was 1000 or 2000 , but since he is on the picture with a fingertip I'm thinking he probably played a fingertip at some point ...would love to hear some of his stuff done on the fingertip...

Chalker is interviewed in his Steel Guitar Record Club release and tells us this is a Fender 2000.

"Travis!" cut August 1961 at Capitol in Hollywood is a Fender 1000 - also a magnificent record:

Years ago, at one of Scotty's Sunday shows at the Moose hall in St. Charles Mo ,Curley told Bobby Caldwell and me that it was a 2000. The album cover was shot several months after the recording. Curley had switched to Sho-Bud bye then. I remember him telling me that he wasn't fond of the small black and silver tuning screws for the pedals. Lots of great memory's from working at Scotty's. IN THE FALL OF 1972, TOM BRADSHAW ATTENDED THE D J CONVENTION AND INTERVIEWED CURLY FOR AN ARTICLE THAT CAME OUT IN GUITAR PLAYER IN THE SPRING OF 1973. CURLY STATED THAT YES, THE ALBUM WAS CUT ON A FENDER 2000.
