Daughter is taking us to some sort of Christmas dinner concert at Dollywood later in the month. Should I expect any steel in that?

Don, I texted a friend that plays there. I'll let you know when I hear from him.

Thank you Tony! We leave here mid-day Wednesday, but won't attend the show until Saturday the 16th.

Don, I just heard from by friend and he said no steel. Sorry but I'm sure the show will be great.

OK Tony, thanks for the info, and thank your friend as well. I'm sure we will enjoy it regardless, our daughter has been before and speaks highly of it. A steel player would have just been icing on the cake.

I'll have to see if we can get there, Dale. We'll be spending 2 nights in PF so maybe.....

And I'll correct myself, it's Dixie Stampede we're going to, which is nearby by different from Dollywood if I now understand correctly.

Dale - is that Junior Mercer you're referring to? He's excellent and certainly did 'Country Tonight' for a long time. I'm assuming he's still there.

Larry Stewart on steel. For awhile this year, a steel player named Jeff Campbell had played there

Looks like the other night we will be in Pigeon Forge (besides the Dixie Stampede dinner), that "Country Tonight" will be presenting the Nutcracker. And also looks like they are closed after December, until late March. Sad

Oh well, we go down there fairly often so now that we know, it's something to put on the "to do" list.

Roger, Junior Mercer hasn't played at the Country Tonight theater for quite sometime. He's still living in Pigeon Forge, he has a home recording studio and is also doing some road work. Junior is a great player, I'd like to see him playing some steel shows. Sadly, not very many of those theater gigs have steel players anymore, and if they do they are usually utility players, so you only hear a steel on a few tunes.
