I played a 5 hour gig last nite..the touch and tone from these strings was awesome!! We did a 2 hour Jazz set and the tone was the best, then hard core Hawaiian and these strings have great harmonics and intonation!! Thanks all for the recommendation! Very Happy Tuesday I will be on a country band to try these.. Greg..You're right, I may stick with nickle Whoa! Love this forum..Larry

Larry, found the same when I first tried them. And, they appear to increase mids. You should find they hold harmonic range, tone and stay in tune for yonks. Plus I can't break them bending so far.
Cheers

Sold out, but I'll be getting another shipment of NYXL E9th sets on Monday or Tuesday. These strings are more popular than I expected.

Greg, I used SS for years as they didn't rust here in the jungle, hoping the Nickle lasts in this humidity also. BTW my Excels NEVER break a string, my Sho-Bud goes thru the 3rd now and then.. Larry Smile

Humm that IS going to be a test for them. I use a fitted cover to keep things covered, don't know if that helps? Smile

I just received a set for my 12 string ext E9. Haven't put them on yet, but this week for sure. I sure hope these strings knock my socks off. By the time I added the 11th and 12 strings, with tax and shipping, they were a little over $28 for 1 set. That's going to be real hard to swallow every time, so they will have to be more than spectacular. Crossing my fingers.

Just ordered a set (.012 - .038) from b0b here on the Forum.
I had been using Jagwires for many years and the 011.5 G# lasts nearly forever.
Did you ever break the .012 on the NYXL's ??? How's the tone longevity for the set?

After learning about these new D'Adderio strings here, I decided to buy a standard set from Bob for each neck of my D-10 Zumsteel Hybrid. I installed them last week and played my steel on a gig last night (same band and stage as last Sunday night). Holy cow, I was blown away! More growl, mid range presence, richer tone and more clarity than the standard D'Adderio strings I've used for decades. Lows seem crisp with great definition and the highs are silky smooth. Chimes are clear as a bell, too. The pickups in this guitar are Telonics 409 series, which are really clean and clear.

I put some on my Willy about a month back, I like 'em better than anything else I've tried. They're a little pricey, but I think they may be worth it.

These NYXLs are really great! The fatter, mellow tone is so fun to play, the fiddle guy and I had a blast Tue nite twinnin' and the bass guy immediately noticed the difference (. LIve SS before and Cobra coils before that) but I'm finding my playing tastier with the fat tone!
Very cool thread! Larry. Cool

Received another shipment, including some odd wound gauges (.045 and .057) to fill in the gaps.

I don't see the medium gauge E9th set with the Franklin gauges anymore. Are they just sold out or have you discontinued that set?

With all these endorsements, I may have to try a set, on the E9th at least, with a couple of gauge changes here and there..

Hmm. I don't know why. It says we're out of stock but I don't think that's true. I'll check tomorrow when I'm back in the office.

OK Great. I'll have to set about putting together an order and see which extra strings work out best for my set. Thanks.

I don't usually post but I'm in a mood here...these strings are the worst things I've ever had on my steel. They're supposed to be nickel wrapped but look, and more importantly SOUND like stainless. A shrill brassy sound...not like nickel at all. Like I said ...big disappointment and waste of money.

Apologise in advance for rant. Rolling Eyes
