Hey guys. Firstly, thanks to everyone who has purchased and enjoyed my Double-T 12 speaker with Eminence over the past little bit. It's been a very humbling experience to have so many of my peers, and several of my heroes on the instrument put my speaker into use.

Many of you have messaged me, and encouraged me to make a 15" version of my speaker. It is not lost on me that the majority of the steel speaker install base is still 15" speakers. Over the past few months I've finally taken the time to develop a 15" version of my signature sounding speaker. I signed off on the final approved version yesterday morning. Once again, I got input from several of my fantastically talented steel playing friends here in Nashville. Just the same as my 12" version, it is a very modern sounding speaker, and sounds terrific on both E9th and C6th tunings. It will be able to handle anything you can throw at it, and more. It will be a terrific direct speaker replacement for all 15" combos (Nashville 400, LTD, Session, Webb, etc), and obviously any stand alone speaker cabinets.

As soon as I know release dates, etc, and there is an official announcement, I will post more. Just wanted to post it here first. Winking

-Travis

That does sound interesting! Hopefully, Eminence will see fit to service this with a 4-ohm version and not be restricting it to 8-ohm use only. I realize that 8-ohms seems to be quite universally accepted, but when it comes to 15 inch speakers (especially for steel guitar amps) the balance seems to swing heavily in favor of 4-ohm models. Although 8-ohms may work, I personally would rather match my speaker to the specifications required by the amp manufacturer. JMHO, thanks! Roger Smile

Hi Travis, is there any sound difference between the 12" and the 15" ?
Do you have a preference or pro's and cons list ? Just curious, ?

Thx
Greg

Hey Greg. In attempting to keep with my “signature” sound in a speaker, the 15” sounds very similar to my 12”. There are a few characteristics that vary slightly, but the 15” has the same unique midrange response as my 12”. The 15” is a 4 ohm speaker, versus the 8 ohm 12”. I intentionally made it 4 ohms so it would be a direct replacement option for the majority of existing 15” combo amps.

It is definitely my favorite 15” speaker I’ve played. I guess it should be though. Haha.

Gary...I don’t know how to answer that other than to say, they are drastically different sounding speakers. The Telonics and Quilter 15s are both variants of the EPS-15 platform. My speaker is a new design from the ground up. I designed it to be the complementing 15” version of my existing Double-T 12 speaker. I’ve had great success and feedback with that speaker, except from the guys that wanted it to be a 15”. Ha. This is for them!

FWIW Emminence does take custom orders, I wanted a TT-12 in 4 ohms and it arrived yesterday. I installed it last night and am happy with it after a brief playing time. It took about 3 weeks from the time I ordered it to arrival and it added about $25.00 to the purchase price. Since it's replacing an old 12" JBL you can imagine the cabinet is now much lighter!!

I've been using the prototype Double T-15 for about a month or so. I've tried my very best to destroy it and I've given up. I had the EPS-15C in my Webb before puting the prototype in. I love either speaker but the Double T-15 seems to have the edge. All the punch of a 12" with the warmth of a 15". E9 and C6 both sound out of this world and it handles big fat chords better than I ever expected. Do yourself a favor and get 1 or 7.

I'd say that's a pretty solid review. Winking

John, I am hoping for it to be available sometime in the spring. I should have a little better idea of a timeline after the first of the year. I am currently planning to attend the Dallas show, and am working on maybe doing a room with Eminence, featuring some samples of the speaker in different popular amps. We'll see if it pans out or not.
