Topic: Authenticating 1948 Gibson Ultratone |

Gibson owners!
The cream and burgundy '48 (give or take a year or two) Ultratone has clear volume and tone knobs. I've seen some for sale claiming to be "all original" that have numbers inside those clear knobs and others that do not. My guess is that someone's replaced theirs but I can't figure out who.
Can anyone help me out?

| The book shows BR-1/Ultratones with the gold knobs and the clear knobs. I would say that they are both legit. |

I have the same guitar, my red is more pinky and I'believe it's a 1946 according to Pg 79 of the Duuchossoir book.

| If the numbered knobs are the shorter ones, they're undoubtedly replacements. If they are the taller numbered knobs, they may be legit if the instrument is one of the very last of the white Ultratones manufactured before Gibson redesigned the body in early 1951. |
