Hmmm... that's kinda hard to watch. He's really battering that Stringmaster. That was probably a new instrument in 1970. They were made until about 1980.

I'm ready to see someone jump up while they have the crowd going wild and soak their their D-10 8/8 down with lighter fluid and set it on fire. Jimi Hendrix wasn't the first to do it. Jerry Lee set his piano on fire then said "Follow that one killer!"
Fear not because you have already ordered six pedal steels for your next tour. All awaiting the fire. Wonder if mica gets to stinking? I bet it does.

LOL - Let's not forget ELP, stabbing that B3 (I think that's what he played) to death and wrestling it to the ground during live performances.... Whoa!

The steel player's antics in Juicy Lucy are obviously down to him wearing Harris Tweed underpants.
Now that's what you call a real Technical Itch.

When I was in Jeff Newman’s Jeffran class in Nashville he told us that some of the licks he was teaching were real simple.

One of the things we all loved about Buddy Emmons was that he typically smiled when he played.

And a Player's smile is usually contagious.

Try smiling during your next entire practice session.

It ain't easy.

ELP are my all time favorite band(kinda unusual for a steel player); Have seen them 17 times.
Keith played a Hammond C-3 during his heyday, as B-3s were not readily available in England at the time.Same innards as a B-3; different cabinet is all Switched later to a Goff pro, which was essentially a heavily modified B-3 in an indestructible road cabinet, ; B-3s were meant to travel; C-3s & A-100s (again; same innards, different cabinet)were meant for home or church.
The organ that he beat the crap outta onstage was a Hammond L-100.

This is one of the things I've never liked about any forum. There's always someone shooting off their mouth degrading someone else when they in turn are the ones that should be practicing.
Go figure
