The legendary Bobby Black will be playing in a special Birthday Tribute to George Jones this Friday, September 29th, at The Ivy Room in Albany, CA.
My country band "Crying Time" will be backing up a number of top Bay Area country singers including Maurice Tani, Laura Benitiz, Elliot Randall, Val Esway, Loretta Lynch, Danny Allen, and Jill Rogers of Crying Time.
Don't miss this chance to hear Bobby performing the songs that he originally recorded with George Jones over 50 years ago.
PS-I'm the bass player...come say hi! Hope to see you there.
Here's a flyer for the event:

Shoot. I was just down there last weekend. Hope you have a great turnout, looks like a fun show. And of course it would be great to see Bobby.
Just wondering about that Loretta Lynch name... |

Thanks Fred, sorry we'll miss you!
Loretta Lynch is the name of a vocal trio of women, they do country/americana stuff, mostly originals in 3 part harmony...very talented singers. I think the name is a bit of a tribute to Loretta Lynn, and it was pretty surprising when a different Loretta Lynch became America's Attorney General a few years ago! |

Thank you Walter...
The show was a smash! Almost 250 people showed up in a club made for 100, and latecomers were turned away. Bobby was outstanding, and thrilled the crowd sharing some stories of playing with George Jones in the early 1950s. 12 different singers, 38 George Jones songs...what a night!

So you got Bobby to sing? Or is he telling a George Jones story here?
He's got a good voice. He sang Right Or Wrong a couple times when I worked with him. |

Thanks Jim. I'm lucky I know how to use my phone to call someone, let alone do a Facebook live thing!
Fred, that was Bobby telling a story. I didn't know he sang, but it wouldn't surprise me...very talented guy. |
