Bobby is alive and well, playing with various bands in Northern California. Here's a recent picture of him subbing for me with The Rhythm Rangers in Penngrove, CA.

Az Art - would love to personally thank him for putting up with me, inspiring me, creating my love for the steel (that has lasted 50 years, and got me to purchase one to attempt to learn to play, lol) thanks to all

many thanks bob, for both moving post, and posting the picture of Bobby. While he looked a little older than I did in 67, from that picture, tell him that I now look at least 25 years older then he does. isn't that life. a very special thanks and it is good to hear from those that have met, spoken with, and enjoyed his playing.. for he is "ONE CLASS ACT" IN every way . Az Art

He's still a class act act and a first rate player, and seems to be in good health even after a recent automobile accident.

Thanks Dan, you have just given me many future hours of bobby playing great steel music!! I revise my earlier statement that "I now look 25 years older than Bobby" to 35 years older. lol I guess I was "rode hard and put away wet" way too many times.

I just finished rehearsing with Bobby one hour ago! He's doing well and sounding great. What a pleasure to get to play with such a fine musician and gentleman.

He is one of the featured performers at our (Crying Time)'s upcoming Birthday Tribute To George Jones show which will be on September 29th at The Ivy Room in Albany, CA. If you are in the Bay Area, please come! Here's a flyer for the show. Thanks, Peter

thanks bob, once again a wealth of knowledge. I looked under events and found possibly one of the VERY BEST line ups of steel players the SWSGA could have. 5 hall of fame steel players on one 3 day show. Yes BOBBY BLACK is one of the 5. I would not miss this show. Jan 11,12,13 of 2018 at the Hilton hotel in Mesa Az. thanks again bob Art
