Does anyone have the videos that Phil Copp put together on YouTube? Jim Owens forced him to remove them and I never thought to download them. I have 3 of the 7 but not the rest! Phil put a lot of time editing Tommy's' solos from over the years and it was an amazing effort.

thx

Remove them for what reason? Is this some of that copy right crap? Those people to to stick it. Two things I hate and both of them are people who remove videos because that copyright junk. They afraid they will loose money? I don't understand. They weren't even whole songs. Cheez

Edit: videos aren't removed, just pulled them up. Not withdrawing my above rant though.

BMI or ASCAP probably wanting money for how many hits they got. I've said it before and I'll say it again, they are nothing but robbers with the law on their side, blood sucking leeches. Legalized crime, lol

I might know less than anybody here, but Jim Owens was the producer of those TNN shows and probably has ownership. You can't blame him for wanting to protect his property, sad as it is for all of us Tommy fans.

He is/was also the husband of Lorianne Crook of the Crook and Chase shows on the same network.

I know how you feel losing the connection to these great videos, but calling him names is probably not going to help our cause.

I love those Tommy videos too. Perhaps Owens will release the videos in the future for us steel nuts and lovers of great country music we love played with lots of steel guitar. Whaddya say Jim?

In his early days Jim Owens also did a impersonation show of Hank Sr. It was so-so. Saw it in McAlester, OK.
I went to see the steel man but I can't tonight remember who it was. I never liked Jim Owen. Arrogant. J.R.

J R Rose,
Wrong Jim Owens. Just the same name as tv producer.
Henry, I do understand and get what your saying, however, I'm thankful for BMI, ASCAP, SESAC and others. Those entities are instrumental and vital for intellectual property rights renumeration and they try diligently in helping hard working, talented folks get compensated for their life long work, even though it is just pennies on the dollar of what they deserve.
I'm also disappointed in the deletion of the youtube clips but, I have been compensated very fairly for those perfomances. 😊

Tommy, thanks for chiming in and I for one all multitudes of others are sure going to miss those little clips. I could understand if they were whole songs but just basically clips of the rides with you and Wanda. Sure glad you were compensated but again gonna miss them. Thanks again for your input.

Bob that's a complicated question. I think it's more about using someone's property without asking. But I'll let those in the bidness explain all of that. Smile

The lesson here. If you run across anything on youtube that really bends your ear. You had best download it ASAP. There is or was, a lot of old Pet Milk Opry shows, ET TV shows etc etc. Some had some really cool steel guitar moments. If you dig em. You'd better down load em.

I agree with Bobby on that, if you see/hear something you like, download it and archive it on your hard drive. Don't count on it being a available in the future!

As I was saying. They, (Many of our favorite clips.) will likely all be gone before long. Don't want to encourage anyone to break any laws. Just stating my opinion.

Now a question. Is it not illegal for sites such as Mickey's that teach songs or parts of songs illegal? Is it not illegal when folks post themselves on youtube playing their favorite county western tune? Aren't songs considered public domain after maybe 50 years are so? Is it illegal to upload those to? Just curious. Someone educate me.

Thanks b.

human greed has no limits ... Taylor Swift after making $15,000,000.00 each year, still complains about people downloading her music off the internet... I personally wouldn't download her garbage if it was free... ymmv
