I bought a MSA S10. E9 tuning. I would like to have an extra set of strings on hand. What do y'all recommend? Thanks in advance. _________________ Jesus Loves Me AND The Pedal Steel Guitar

I've used lots of brands, and I sound equally bad on all of them, but I settled on the GHS PF 500 Nickel set available through the Forum. Most any will work for you, especially at first. There's very few string manufacturers, but LOTS of packages! |

The only ones I've broken over the years were strings 3,4 and 5 (on a keyed head), so you'll probably want a few extras of those on hand..just in case! You can order those separately. |

I've tried many brands and have settled on Live Steel Strings. Haven't broke but one string, and that was my fault when installing. I use the Stainless, but others prefer the Nickel. _________________ Mullen G2 SD10 3 & 5 The Eagle

I've used about every brand over the years. I've settled on the Live Steel Strings, I get from Ray Thomas and the George L strings, I get from Bill Ferguson. Zero issues and great service from both. I change once a month and also use a .012 on the high G# third string. |

I've tried several brands of strings over the years and I've finally settled on Live Steel Strings. I've used them for the last 3 years and I love them. I'm lazy, so, they last a long time and hold their pitch and settle in quickly. I prefer the stainless strings. |

I don't actually have my guitar yet. I'm suppose to get it next Wednesday. But I want to have some extra strings ASAP. It is a MSA CLASSIC. But I don't know if it will need ball end or loop end. Or is that not an issue when I buy pedal steel guitar strings? Here's a pic.

Steel guitar/electric guitar strings come with ball ends, not loop ends (which are for banjos, mandolins, autoharps, and dulcimers).
Pedal steels use electric guitar strings, but gauged and packaged for pedal steel usage. Just get a set for E9 pedal steel; at this stage of the game for you, any brand would suffice. Buy from the Forum store to help out the forum's expenses. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.
Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg? |

Thanks guys.... one last question. If the set of strings say Pedal Steel... they will be ball end. I know that I'm making this way more difficult than it is. I just want to be sure! Sorry for running this into the ground. _________________ Jesus Loves Me AND The Pedal Steel Guitar

And also good for pulling teeth. Loop around tooth, other end attatched to door knob.
Live Steel Strings for me too. Jagwires a close second (very close). _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open E slide guitar) .
