watching this makes me very sad, I met Vic Jordan in Nashville back in 1999, and went to his apartment, where he showed me his photo albums from his Bill Monroe days, and many others... at one moment he said "wait" and he went on the phone, and called someone... he came back, and said we have a friend coming over... few minutes later someone was knocking on the door, it was Doug Dillard, so i spent one afternoon in Nashville chilling with Vic Jordan, and Doug Dillard, just three of us... they set up my Gibson banjo on the kitchen table, and i played little "Pick Away" to Vic, and he couldn't believe his ears lol ... what a great memories ... Doug passed away in 2012, and Vic just last year, I was looking on the YouTube searching for some Vic Jordan videos when I run into this one , and was shocked when i saw Buddy playing his Dobro lol ... I am so glad I made it to Nashville just in time to get a chance to meet some of my heroes before they are gone...I actually met Buddy Spicher as well down town Nashville while he had his little jazz gig at Wolfies on Broadway... for the last decade or so, I lost my interest in music main reason being, this todays music doesn't do anything for me, music was always my inspiration, and the meaning of my life, and that is gone...today my meaning is my daughter, but I still miss my music, and videos like this one bring back some very happy memories...

Damir, Thanks for posting about Vic Jordan and Doug Dillard. I started watching and listening to Vic about 1969 and followed him through the 70's. I always thought he presented himself as the consummate professional banjo player. I loved Doug Dillard's individualism. The mere fact he wrote and recorded all his best material on a raised head Gibson says a lot. They were all ready out of style even then. Or at least I thought he used a raised head I am basing that on the television appearances. I knew Doug had passed away but I had no idea that Vic Jordan had passed away. I am sorry to hear that.

and you are correct, Doug always played his old trustworthy Gibson arch top banjo...
I heard of Vic's passing from a friend of mine Glen Duncan, fiddle player extraordinaire ... all those guys were my heroes back in the day, Doug Dillard, John McEuen, Carl Jackson, Larry McNeely, Ralph Staney and many others ... I have to say my favorite players were McEuen and Ralph but Vic, Reno and others were very close too... Doug was a great guy, very funny, and nice ... those were the guys on the bluegrass side I loved, on the other, country side were Jones and Merle, Waylon and Willie, Buck etc... I have to say, unfortunately, this todays music scene just flat out sucks, looks like magic days are over...or maybe I'm just getting old...

Thanks for posting this. Great work by the incredible Buddy Spicher. I didn't know about Vic's passing. I did a session once and Vic was the banjo player, also Roy Husky Jr. on bass. Uncle Josh on drobro. It was Jim Buchanan ando myself on fiddles. I remember that Vic was an all pro player. I used to see him occasionally when I was on the road with Del McCoury and Vic was working with Jim and Jesse. Like you, I've lost track of a lot of the music people because I'm not involved like I used to be. So many of the great ones are gone.

you are very welcome guys, this is some great stuff...you are right Rick, Vic was a true session cat, but he told me something I would have never guessed, he said he was making most of his session money by playing rhythm guitar, banjo was not that profitable... I had a chance to meet John Buchanan too, while he was with the Jones Boys...great guy...
