I have 1955 or so Fender Champ lap steel. The knobs on the tuning machines are cracking. Does anyone know where to get replacements knobs or what the actual tuning machines are., Stewmac can't cross reference them.

You know stewmac sells just the black knob, right? Not too hard to install.

Help is on the way! Call WD Music and ask for Dave Lewis (tell him I sent you). You will soon be able to get an exact copy of the original from Kluson who made the original tuners! Dan

Chances are you only need to replace the buttons. I have replaced dozens of black, white, and ivory buttons on Kluson tuners with these Stew-Mac buttons with great success:

It's a good idea to flush and lube the tuner strips before installation of the new buttons. Scroll down a ways on this post to see one way to do it:

If you decide to install new repro tuner strips, be sure to save the originals.
