This may be a touchy subject, but here goes; when a hotel is full up, they create a waiting list. Then, when they get a cancellation, they go to the waiting list for the next up. So, it bothers me that folks are asked to yield their reservation to another person, when they decide to cancel. This seems to me to be like cutting in line. The cancellation should go to the next person on the list. Now, that's just me. What do you think?

Hey Jim, if I had a hotel room booked in Mesa and had to cancel, but knew of a son or daughter or family member of mine was going to need a room in Mesa at the same time, would I let it go to a stranger or try to look after the family member first. I think the SWSGA or Steel Guitar Forum, is just trying to look after the family first which to me is normal.

Neil, You make a valid point, but not what I was referring to.

There's really no ethics involved, the reservation that's already been made takes precedence. The reservation is usually considered promissory, whereas being on a "wait-list" is not.
