Sounds great, Reggie. Tommy Detamore produced the album and his steel playing is flawless as usual!

I've always dug Tommy Det's playing. This is why. And Jim deserves his status.

I thought the sub headline calling this a ".... steel-heavy tune" really interesting. Not the usual sort of language, outside of the steel world.
The RS editor happens to be one of the talking heads used in the PBS Hag biography so the headline might be his doing (he also happens to live in my building).

There is something slightly unusual on this song regarding the steel. I missed it the first time or two I heard it, it's subtle.

Anybody else notice it? Smile

NO; This is "Steel-Heavy">
https://youtu.be/GV9pRD641ZY
And produced by Tommy Detamore(and me), at Tommy Detamore's Studio....ha.....
But yes the Jim Lauderdale cut is certainly described as "steel heavy" as the brainless music media normally hasn't a clue what they are listening to; but it certainly is a steel-heavy song compared to all the stuff put out...but I can almost guarantee you Jim was wanting more Steel and Tommy had to fan him off a bit...ha.
(Tommy; AWESOME playing and work on the whole lauderdale project...you are OUT OF THIS WORLD man... Love ya.)

Well Ricky, there's steel heavy, and STEEL HEAVY for sure. That's great stuff pal!

What do you think it is Reggie?? Smile It's pretty obvious once you hear it. I think only someone Tommy-caliber could do this without it sounding strange.

You can't go wrong with Tommy. He knows how to get the job done. One of my very favorite players, and his producing and engineering skills are second to none. I don't know of anyone I'd rather have on my team if I were doing a professional record.

I think the author started that "steel heavy" weight thing, Tommy, because he was disappointed he didn't get to sample some of your birthday cheesecake Wink

By today’s standard, both Tommy’s and Ricky’s stuff, are pretty well laden with some REALLY good steel.... Been years since I’ve regularly listened to what’s on the radio today.
