I'll miss Chris' many thought provoking posts along with his direct approach to any discussion. A loss to the forum for certain. Rest in peace my friend. _________________ Justice Pro Lite (4-5), Justice D-10 (8-5)x2 , Quilter Steelaire, Hilton Pedal, BJ's bar. |

Really saddens me to hear of Chris's passing. Like many, never met him, but did receive several PM's from him. He told me some time ago of his illness. It seems anytime an Emmons SKH item came up he would PM me about it with an intelligent question. I would always refer him to Jack Strayhorn, LOL. Like many here, I found Chris to be very genuine and soft spoken through his PM's. God keep him strong wherever he is.....Chris was surely one of a kind. TX

RIP Chris.....you Sir could turn heads with your opinions, leaving us waiting on the edge of our seats, wondering who would dare to make the next comment....you caused people to look both left and right whether they ever intended to.... _________________ 2010 Rains 3x5 SD10, 2006 Rains 3x5 SD10 Powered by Quilter Tone Block 202 and 15' and 12' Custom Speaker cabs |

Although he could come off as snarky and sometimes downright rude, I believe his intentions were the best. I saw behind the gruff exterior a caring individual who was always wiling to help and possessed a heck of a lot of talent. The man knew his stuff and he could play. I learned a lot from him. I'll miss you, Chris. |

I just got off the phone with a mutual friend of mine and Chris'.... I had not heard of his passing... and I'm still kind of stunned by the news.
I've known Chris since maybe around 1974 when the 2 of us were competing for club jobs in the Sacramento area... and at that time Sacramento was a hot bed of great pedal steel guitarists, like Jimmy Fox. Chris and I were the "kids" who had to fight for every scrape we could get, leftovers from the real pros back then.
We have remained close, and in later years, now that we were no longer competing with each others for gigs, I think we sort of formed a nice bond, both being 2 of the last round of steelers in the Sacramento area from the heady days of night clubs everywhere.
Chris always told me he used to play with Lacy J. Dalton, before she adopted that stage name... that was something he was very proud of.
Patty and I will miss you and your wonderful playing my friend.
Joesph, I'll spread the word about the 5th String collection among his other friends... thanks for posting. _________________ Dave Wren

My wife called the 5th Sting music store in Sacramento, and they mentioned they plan to host a memorial service for Chris, on July 30th (a Sat.), I think at 2:00.... but perhaps call the store to make sure of the time. _________________ Dave Wren

I feel very sad about this. Chris was the voice in your ear that told you to look at the other side of the story. Some times I got it, some times I didn't. I already miss this.
