How would you play this? (Mary Did You Know)

This chord change series....

Dm, C, Gm, Asus, A

and this...

Gm, C, F, C, Dm, Gm7, Asus, A

just trying to wrap my pea sized brain around it...

If you want to comp on the middle/lower register you could (assuming std E9th).
Fret 8:
5 6 7 8 (Dm or F6)
Fret 8:
5 6 8 10 (C)
Fret 6:
5A 6 8 (Gm7 - Bb6)
Fret 5:
5 6B 8 10 (Asus)
Fret 5:
5 6 8 10 (A)
for a descending run
You may want your "Leslie" sound running or a slight Phaser/Reverb mix for your type of work. The next progression could follow the same system & and just leave a string out if you run out of fingers and thumb (3 string chord v 4 string chord).

Thanks Jim, I plan on playing the melody, just was looking for an idea where to anchor on the fretboard.

I have a backing track I did for it. And I can do a B3 organ simulation if needed.

Dm and Gm are handy at 6 (Es lowered and A pedal, respectively) the two As are handy at 5,and the C at 8.
I'm miles from the guitar, but those would be my first leanings.

If someone would like a backing track for "Mary Did You Know", I have it in Dm and Bm made in ChordPulse. It runs at 100 BPM.

Scott, it might be helpful to think of the Gm as a B flat major triad.
