A little bird told me that this fella is celebrating his 82nd birthday tomorrow (11/25)! Information fresh as a couple of days ago is that he's still playing and has had visits from Chris Scruggs and Rob McNurlin recently to knock out a few tunes.

He's a great talent and inspiration and one of the few remaining non-pedal players from country steel's golden era (in my opinion!).

Love this one: https://youtu.be/2zCHseGtJPw

I know I'm going to stop by his Facebook page and wish him a Happy Birthday tomorrow.

Since discovering the steel guitar about 3 years ago I can say that Kayton is by far my fave! He just seems like he's a blast to play with and a true gentleman. Happy Birthday Kayton.

On another note; does anyone have tabs to some of his stuff off the Valley of the Roses CD? I'd love to learn some as getting some of it by ear with my limited ability has proven a bit challenging so far.

Clayton, I can watch Kayton's Youtube vids all day... I know that there's work being done on a documentary sort of video of Kayton which I'm really looking forward to.

Somebody should get a PhD if they can tab out Kayton's Rag with all those string pulls!
