I think Jerry Horsh is trying to do with Franklins what other Emmons, ZBs, Zumsteels etc. players have done which is have a separate thread for proudly showing them off. There are the "Show us Your____ Steel" threads.
Additionally, it saves time for those who want to see a number of different Franklins and can find them in one thread.
Finally, there just may be Franklin owners who have not posted photos of their steels who might add them AND owners who have posted in previous threads might have new photos to post in Jerry's thread.
Good idea, Jerry, and I love the color of your Franklin too.. stevet

My understanding is that Mel Tillis' bass player designed the scroll logo. I'm afraid that I don't know the gentleman's name & quite frankly may just be starting rumors.

This guitar was originally built for Hal Rugg, and still has some of his unusual C6 changes on it. It is similar to John Hughey's copedent that b0b has on his site, but it's a little different. The guitar also has a nut with 3 slots so you can adjust the scale length. To change scale length you would move the roller nut and change the fret board.
I inherited the guitar from my dad, and he bought it from Bobbe in the mid 80s. I think he traded even, a MSA D10 and a silverface twin.
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin are the nicest folks. They have welcomed me and my wife into their home and treated us like family.

My Franklin, according to Mr Franklin was the first one he used the new "rounded" logo on. He said it was the keyboard player in Mel's band (Paul was working in the band at the time) that designed the logo but didn't stretch the "F" out. He said he changed it to stretch the F out similar to the original logo.

Pete, you were pretty close!
Jack, I reckon that is the Franklin you still have and will probably always have. I can hear why. This is a nice little video David Hartley posted of himself playing a friend's beautiful sounding S-10 comparing pickup sounds.

Jack, if you don't care, what # is yours? My case has the old logo, and the guitar has the new one. |

i'm just glad they changed it. i wasn't crazy about the original logo.
it was a little crude.
a guy came by my house traveling around one year and had what he claimed was that black steel paul played with mel.
i was surprised that the undercarriage finish work was slightly crude also. |

Mine is S/N 65. It is the same rosewood as Jim Cohen's. Mine is a "split tail", later builds the neck covered the back of the changer in one piece (but it was just cosmetic it didn't attach to the changer). Mine also was the first one he used outside machined parts. But it was a small part, the small cross rod mounting blocks on one side.

I heard a story that there was one lacquer Franklin and Paul owns it. I heard that Show Pro built the body. Not sure if it's true or just a story.
