Cool intro in today's lesson. I really enjoyed it.

And, of course, we're all waiting for the Policarpo Boot Blockin' pedal... Cool

I broke my pot pedal's string boot blockin' today. Fortunately I got a roll of the stuff laying around. Re-attaching that bugger is always a pain, but nothin' else makes a chord disappear and reappear like a good old Okie boot block. Mr. Green

Great lesson last Saturday. The new word for the week is "Behoove". I did not realize William was also an English teacher.
If you want to play steel better, checkout the weekly Steelin Techniques. You will like it.

So Afraid Of Losing You is a fun song to play.
It's been kind of quiet this week. I wonder what's in store for this coming Saturday.

Hey Dan, how's the pedal doing? Mr. Green

Restrung and I had to re-solder the ground. I guess it comes with the territory of a good ol' boot block.

Dang, Joey...I just noticed the collection of steels you have!

Shocked

I worked on my Stage One a little this week and got the tension a little tighter and the throw just a little longer. I don't like it when the pedals go down too easy, when they are too sensitive. It ain't Emmons, but it ain't bad.

Hey William you should see my Franklin pedal!

Works if I use just two strings...

Check it out, folks. William does a real nice variety of songs that aren't easy to play. You will really learn some things.

Daniel I'm worst than a kid in the candy store when it comes to steels. I hardly see one that I don't like or want. Bad habit!!!!!!!!!!

Ha, it'd be too easy! I am perfectly fine with the sound and play-ability of my little old Stage One. It's got all I need for honky tonk stuff I like to play, but I am seriously thinking about getting an MSA Classic or Vintage XL. And then I see a nice Charleton style Sho-Bud come up and it's jsut too crazy of a selection, especially if you're basically judging on looks and an educated guess as far as sound. I know what Chalker and Charleton sound like on those great instruments, but I'm not going to sound like that, no matter what steel I get!

Man, that was something else today. I've already played through #233 twice. That Emmons/Claude (not Claudia Mr. Green ) Gray tune is fantastic. In fact, I had never heard of Claude Gray until today and I'm finding all sorts of great stuff he's done on youtube. He is definitely a friend to the steel guitar and apparently still performing.

Thank you for requesting him Mr. Larry Robbins!

Buddy's sound is so wicked here:

After William mentioned Claudia Gray in yesterday's lesson, I just had to find out who she was; Claudia Gray is a pseudonym for Amy Vincent, a young adult paranormal romance author, best known for the Evernight series. Not even close to Claude Gray! Curious minds just have to know.
Oh Well

Great session today. No problems on the playback. The graphic drawings of the picking and bar hand technique was awesome. Really like the backup and fills!
