I recently sent a Fulawka D-10 to Canada via Fed Ex...The guy who bought it from me wanted me to send it to Ed using Fed Ex...It took me parts of 2 days to finally get it shipped...Now the Fed Ex in N.J. did all the paper work, and it finally shipped on 6/11...
It has STILL not gotten there...After numerous calls to Fed Ex and to Canadian customs, nobody seems to know what's going on..I am writing about this to let people know what they are in for from Fed Ex if you send a package Fed Ex Ground to Canada...I don't know if this is just a problem with the branch that sent the steel to Canada or if it's wide spread... I sent my Emmons to Canada using UPS and it was there in 3 days !!!....UPS has there own brokers who they deal with in Canada..I don't think that Fed Ex does...Anyway I spend on the average of an hour a day talking to everybody who works at Fed Ex and I am now trying just to get the steel back to my home in N.Y. ... I have been trying to do this since last Thursday !!..I can't believe this !!....DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU !!!....Since this has happened , I cringe when I hear the name "Canada"....Never again !!.... You Canadians should really be mad at the way your country handles packages comming in from other countries... It really is a shame....I had Ed Fulawka trying to retrieve the steel from the Canadian side, and still no progress !!....TERRIBLE , just plain TERRIBLE !!....I'm still waiting !!....Jim

I often get shipments from the US, no problem. I've never used Fed-Ex.

The same thing has happened with UPS and Bax GlobalTo Canada........>I have been screwed by all them at one time or anotherTo Canada.....neither of them stand out.....
But then again....I've used all three shipping companies and have shipped all over the world;including Canada, just Fine no problem.
I'm sorry you had the problem with FedEx this time....but you could have had the same prob. with any number of shipping companies.....or NOT...

So, back to the Post's Title...

Is it Canada, or is it shipping companies?

I suspect the later. I read plenty of horror stories here about shipping within the US.

I don´t know about Canada, but I wouldn´t be too rough on FedEx. All I know is they did a great service when Ricky sent the Professional to me, it was here within three days, no kidding, and in fine condition.

So Ricky, you obviously do a lot of shipping. Have any advice?

It sounds like all shippers have bad and good histories. What do you do?
Just pack well, insure it, and hope?

I regularly get parcels from the U.S. for my business and have them sent just regular mail; bearing in mind that most of them come from the east coast they "usualy" take 7 days and have even been here in three ........go figure.........
Bob Mainwaring. Z.Bs. and other weird things.

Fed EX ground is some sort of crappy sub contractor for the real FedX. They absolutely blow. As far as tracking a shipment goes they can't even find there ass with both hands. I am very disgusted with the service I've had from them.
