I hope this is the right section to ask. There are lots of programs out there to modify Midi files but I'm having trouble accomplishing to tkae a Midi, delete the lead instrument (so as not to compete with my guitar) and save it as a Midi.
When I use MidiNotation, it won't save it as a midi once I've modified it either as above or transposing the key. It saves it as a "not" file which then is not recognized by say BIAB.
When I started in this, some kind bod on the Forum suggested a program like Studio 24 but I didn't know what I was doing then. Now I almost know!!!!!
Any suggestions.

Use RealBand (it comes with BIAB). Load in the midi file, turn off the instruments you don't want, then save. It's not quite that straight forward as I recall, but I have done it successfully a couple of times.
