Pretty straight forward question here... Are there any books that you prefer that teach music theory in relation to the pedal steel?

I found Mark van Allen's "Music Theory & Number System for E9" course extremely helpful. It's a (2)-CD set, and I just can't recommend it highly enough for music theory application to E9 pedal steel.

Thanks much, guys! I really tried to boil down the essential stuff to get a good solid knowledge of basic theory on the E9 tuning. I still believe that's the key to fast advancement and making the most of any courses we already have.

The sections on Music Theory as Applied to the Steel Guitar in the WW book are a great starting place.

Mike Perlowin's book- Music Theory In The Real World- published by Mel Bay-is a great, easy to understand method of understanding theory and he has available a companion product that he will provide that explains music theory as it relates to the pedal steel guitar and is highly recommended.

Another thumbs up for Mark Van Allen's 2 CD course. Ya can't go wrong with Mark's course. He teaches step by step how to form chords for steel guitar using music theory. Great course!
