Topic: Anyone build an E lower lock for a U12? |

Has anyone built a mechanisn to lock the E lower knee lever to put the U12 into B6 mode? How did you do it? What hardware did you use?

Karlis,
Sierra makes a lever lock.
It may be adaptable to your axe (you might have to make a trip to Portland with your steel to make sure).
I've seen guys use a bungee cord!
We usually get a good debate going on the S12U Lock! 
I didn't have one for 18 years on my Emmons S12U.
I love the one on my Sierra!
See, the beauty of it is this...
If you need to work specifically on your 6th stuff (and who doesn't), you can lock into the 6th mode and go to town for days on end with C6th/B6th videos/tab/rhythm tracks, ect.
If you want to work on E9th, just unlock it (it takes less than 1 second to lock/unlock).
If you want to work on the "one big tuning" mode (using one of the many "S12U-One Big Tuning" instructional courses available), simply don't use the lock.
Having a lock simply makes the Universal more Universal, IMHO .

Ditto to what Pete said. Also, Excel has a lock. It's a bit more complicated. The ones I've seen have like a gear shift lever that actually comes through the body to the top of the guitar. Might want to check that out too! Good luck. It's really worth the trouble I think.

Hi John,
I was just joking about the "One Big Tuning" courses. There are not any that I am aware of.
The "One Big Tuning" thing is something we S12U players like to claim we play when we think we can do something beyond the limitations of a D10 configuration!

Yeah, a D10'r would have to go to the C6th neck for that note.
Do you have a lever lock on any of your steels?
Brads old Mullen S12U has a lock if I recall correctly, no?
Just curious if you ever use one.

I have a lever lock on my Anapeg, but it was built with the guitar and i don't know if they are made separate. Quite simple and good construction that holds the the E-Eb lever in the lowered position.
