I was outbid on a Guyatone today on Ebay. It was a Dbl 8 with 2 pickups on the near neck and 1 on front. Everything was beautiful, chrome, legs, case, finish, etc., but, it was made in Japan in the 60s. I had never heard of one and dropped out around $650. Did I do wrong?

You did well by dropping out. The previous doubleneck Guyatone sold for $295; the current one up there is at $305 as of this writing.
Sounds like someone got a little excited there. I wouldn't pay that much for a Guyatone personally. I hope whoever got it will be happy with it.

I'm in agreement here.You did yourself a favor by dropping out of this one.Definately not worth that kind of money.

Yep, Al, you did well by not getting that one.
The pictures look good...but on close inspection, most Guyatones are not the highest quality workmanship. |

Well, my first steel was a Guyatone D-8, sort of Stringmaster-clone. It wasn't that bad, actually the only weakness were the pickups. But hey, defintely not worth THAT much money...
