This is Gary's latest prodject. I tried to get the best shot I could to give this guitar the justice.
Thank the Good Lord it's in my den.
See for yourself and tell me what you think about it.

Pretty ax!
Are those pedal rods bowed (bent), or is it just my eyes continuing to go South on me?

Benton,
no, the rods are not bent; what you are seeing is the showdow of the rods on the floor. And most likely, it's tha angle of the guitar.
Trust me, Gary would not, and I mean not, let that guitar go out of the Dallas show with the slighest defect. |

Tommy, That sure is a beauty. You're gonna love it.
Gary makes fantastic steels, and their all beautiful.
I can't wait to get my new Rittenberry next month.
Wishing you years of enjoyment with it. Gary played it
for me, and I couldn't believe the sound he was able
to get out of it. Hope I get to hear you play it soon.

I did not get a chance to talk about the wood lacquer guitar.
At any given time, there was always several people standing at the Rittenberry booth and looking at the guitar. Several of the other builders and many of the players, including Nashville's best spent some time looking this guitar over, and made great comments about it.
I personally spent three days in Gary's booth talking with players and many of them wanted to play on it, but we not able to because it was being displayed.
There was five Rittenberry's being shown, which four of them were on the stage at the same time.
After the show was over, we had dozens of people to come by the booth to talk about the Rittenberry PSG.
I am glad that I own two of them , one being the new Wood-lacquer guitar.
This is my personal statement; no one has enticed me to make this statement. I just finished playing this guitar for about an hour; could have stayed on it for the night, but the wife wouldn't let me. |

Stu, If you look about three or four threads up, you will see what I am talking about.
What you seeing is the shadow of the rods on the floor; optical illusion... |

Tommy...maybe but the outside leg looks bent and I don't see a shadow on that,I'm wondering if it's some kid of lenses distortion or maybe the photo was sized down?,I'm just an idiot making wild guesses,An incredibly beautiful guitar anyway you look at it! _________________ Steeltronics Z-pickup,Desert Rose S-10 4+5,Desert Rose Keyless S-10 3+5... The wall is just a bit distracting.
All those non-parallel vertical lines help foster the bent rod illusion.
But dang, that sure is a beauty!
Stunning in fact.
Congrats!

My only comment about this guitar (other than above), is that I think I would have chosen a different inlay. The pure white inlay gets lost against the natural birdseye finish. I would have gone with one of the more colorful types of Abalone for some contrast. But that's just me. That is a beautiful guitar. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, NV400, NV112 . Playing for 54 years and still counting. |

That is one stunningly beautiful guitar, Tommy. I've been wanting to see one of Gary's new traditional laquer guitars, as opposed to the mica/maple veneer on the front panel. Is the underside flocked and if possible can you upload a photo?
Thanks for posting. Anywhere to find you playing in the Houston/Galveston area so we can hear it? _________________ Emmons P/P, Session 400, sundry 6 stringed and 4 legged critters, amps old & new |

The Rittenberrys i've heard on Youtube sound very good to great. I was very impressed when i heard Carl Kilmer's tone from his Ritt, and there was a Ritt listed f/s on the Forum that had a great tone , sorry i can't recall the former owners name, he also is a fine picker and demonstrated the tone on Youtube. Hope that my playing will improve since I bought my Ritt , could be one of the benefits to buying the Rittenberry. Keep up the good work Gary.
That's my unsolicited testimony.
Skip

Here are some things you have asked about.
We demostrated the thing about cabinet drop; well, there ain't any. We kept a tuner plugged in for the guys that are concerned about the drop. In order for you to see it, you'll have to look very close, because the needle will barely move.
As far as the underneath, Gary left all of the wood exposed for all to see. There is no lamanent; every piece is all wood.
Now for tone; I still have the bell tone, a nice bite to it, but has a nice mellow tone with plenty of sustain. The C6 is unbelieveable with a great bottom end.
The lacquer is flawless, no ripples and is smooth as glass.
When I called Gary, I told him that I wanted him to build an all wood guitar and he had been thinking about doing an all wood guitar, so I told him; let's build one and so he did.
I have no regrets with this guitar; we had a lot of players to come by and look it over, especially the Nashville players and several of the builders.
I was very glad to see this happen.
Well, this is my story and I'm stickin' to it. |

I had the pleasure of bringing Tommy and his new guitar home. I have a Ford Escape, and Tommy was in the back all the way home, snuggled up to his new Ritt in the case. He even had two pillows - one for the Ritt and one for himself! That was all fine and good, but when he took the guitar to the men's room with him at the truck stop, I started to worry a little.
Seriously, this is one really beautiful steel "in person", the pics don't do it justice.
