Liked the Bouton dvd for a beginner.

Look at Doug Jernigan's material, easy to understand and some licks that leave you wondering, How'd he do that??

Mike Archer has some DVD's that are really great.
He's a super player, and his prices are very low.

Get yourself some Herby Wallace E9th courses. Very accurate precise instruction. Prices are not bad either. Stay away from the generic books, stay with the pro's. I would also recommend Mike Archer's material although I don't have any of it but it is on my list of things to get.

Sho Bud, in the late 1960's had a book & LP record that was probably the best intro to pedal steel I've ever seen. As I recall, it was written by Scotty, George Lewis, & Dwayne Marrs. Even the lowliest moron could learn and see how the good guys were getting some of their licks. Also, in the early 1970's, Sho Bud put out a 3 Part course for E9th w/ Buddy Emmons on all three book covers. As I recall it was written by Freeman Cowgar, another foolproof moranic method. As an old time great, once told me, "the key to the kingdom is, practice, practice, practice." You'll never find an easier way to get there!!!! Jay

All the tabs, videos, licks and whatnot will be of limited value unless you understand the underlying music theory, so don't neglect to learn that, too.
