In reference to Buck, he played all the solos and intros, so in doing that, amongst the other guitar players on the show who played rhythm, Buck played lead...
The electric banjo was totally cool. He could sound like an electric guitar player if he wanted to on it or play banjoistic things also. He really was a great player on that show. |

Bill..The guitar player is Bruce Osborne. I believe
he replaced Buck Trent on the later shows. |

I know this is not Buck Trent. I would have recognized him since I have seen him and talked with him in Branson. Bruce Osbon must be correct. Does anyone know what happened to him? |

I remember at the time Buck Trent was leaving Porter's band I was living in southern California and was really into Buck's stuff. I had a Gibson 335 style and also a Mosrite guitar both with Bigsby Palm Pedals and Keith/Scruggs banjo D-tuners! I wrote Porter a letter and sent it to him in care of the Grand Ole Opry telling him that I could do Buck's stuff and I'd be interested in the job if it became available. I never heard anything back from him so I guess he wasn't interested. Oh well, there were hotter women in SoCal anyway and the weather was much nicer!....JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |
