Is there any way to get pedal steel sounds using string bends with the c6th tuning?

I have heard a lot of mp3's on this forum and some seem to get pedal steel sounds from their lap steels...cant remember which mp3's or what the tunings were though!

Hi Roger,

A few years ago I tabbed out and did some slow
downs on a Lap Steel simulation of pedal steel
feel on the six string C6 tuning.
It's still available as a lesson and also in
my C6th Course for Lap Steel. More info on my
Web Pages by clicking on my signature below.
Here is a link to Lappin' It Up

email if you are interested in persuing this
technique...

All the best,

Roy

Wonderful stuff, Roy, and very useful. What tuning are you using? I'm assuming your 6-string lessons and tab will translate to one or the other C6 8-string tunings.
I'll email for more info.
Thanks
J A

Thank you!

John (Allison)in response to you questions
the C6th set up for this song/lesson is
High to Low: E--C--A--G--E--C

The Lappin' It Up arrangement will also
work for C6th EIGHT string tuning. Anyone
who has the high G ...just won't need it
here but you will have to change the string
numbers on the tab to: 2--3--4--5--6--7
Then it will work.

Hope this helps.

Roy

Hi Roy...
My email is acting up at present, but I'll contact you soon about getting that particular lesson.
The (informal) gigs I've been playing involve a lot of Western swing and vintage country, but there are plenty of songs that need a little more honky tonk/crying steel treatment. The lick or two that I've discovered are easily overused and I need some more tools in the box.
Thanks
J A

I play a 6-string with a Duesenberg Multibender, you can make wonderful pedal sounds with it.
