Happy New Year Everyone,
My name is Brian and I am new to this forum and I need help! I have owned a steel on and off for some time and I am stuck. I have played guitar for about 35 years. I know chords on the steel and can fake a melody or two but that is it. Help me if anyone asks me to sit in with them. I will curl up in the corner. I live about twenty miles south of Chicago. Any teachers out there? The forum seems like a great community and I can't wait to get involved. Thanks to everyone.
Sincerely,
Brian |

brian: i live in marshall its central part of illinois on I-70 i've played off and on for 15 years the past 3 months being the heaviest.. i just jumped right in with a group and started playing and they hired me 2nd time i set in with them.. i'm still not the greatest but if you have a chance to set in with someone take it.. it is the best experience you will get.. i set down and basically figured it out so to speak. the first time i played out i was shaking so bad i couldn't find the strings during the first set. but i calmed down a little and if went smoothly..keep at it, it will come easy after a while.. _________________ 1977 Red Lacquer MSA Classic S-10;

Thanks for the response and the advice Jeff. I have been playing pretty seriously for the last few months also. Maybe I need to quit looking at it like a six string.
All the best |
