Is there a way to put data on my CDs so that the player’s display will show Album Name, Artist Name, Song Name, etc?
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy SE sound card, and the digital audio & editing programs I have are: Audacity, Power Tracks Pro Audio, WaveLab Lite, MID Converter, Anvil Studio, Express Rip, Nero, and Roxio – and, of course, Quick Time and Media Player.
If the info I am seeking has been posted before, a link to the post would be appreciated. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

Thanks, John. I read through all of the posts on the forum to which you referred me. It appears that, for the most part, those guys are talking about commercially recorded songs, where your computer can look up the data on the internet. My problem is with the CDs I burn of my own steel playing -- the ones I sell at steel guitar shows, etc. Naming the songs in Windows Media Player before you burn the CD will show the names when you play the CD back in Media Player, but Media Player is getting the information from the data you stored on the hard disc.
I would think that at least a couple of the audio editing programs would provide the capability I want. I just haven't been able to find the function on any of my edit or burning programs. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

Roy, you must use "disk at once" when burning your CD's in order to get the title, etc on the CD. I use Nero, and some computer media programs will display the data and some will not. But, when I play them on the CD player in my car the information is displayed, including the album title. |

I was thinking Nero could do that but I might be wrong... |

Thanks Jack and Dickie. I use Nero to do the final burns of my masters, taking them from .WAV to .CDA. I have been able to include the labels using Audacity and saving them as WAVE files. But when I use Nero to burn them to CDRs as CDA files, they lose the labels. I suppose I just need to study Nero some more.
I'm burned out on this thing for today; I'll start again in the morning. Thanks for the help. If I have any success, I'll post the method I used on this thread for whatever use it may be to others.
Jack, I'm sorry that I just can't bring myself to spend the cost of the gas to come to your jams lately. I miss the music and fellowship. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005

When you burn with Nero, do not use the "Nero Express", use the "Nero Burning ROM" application. Make sure the artist and title are in each song correctly. When you have your list of songs to burn, doubleclick (left click) on each song and ensure the correct data is in the Title and Artist (CD TEXT) fields.
Roy, I understand with the gas prices. I'm amazed at the number of Steelers that still do come including Tom Murphy from Sarasota and Ernie Cawby from Lake City. |

Roy, this can also be done with MUSICMATCH , you have the option to edit all the labeling should you decide to.
For my taste, it takes too long and I then I spell everything wrong anyway ! Then my wife sees it on the Car CD player and asks who "Bad Parsley" is !
ahh..such is life |

Hey guys,
I think the problem is solved. A fellow just called me and explained how to embed the labels using Nero -- which I have on the laptop that I use for recording. It appears to be rather simple.
(Of course, it's actually simple only to those who already know how to do it.)
Thanks to all of you, and thanks to my new friend, Bob.
Roy
P.S. Jack, Bob actually gave me a cookbook recipe for the post you gave me above.
P.P.S. Tony, I can't afford new software; I'm still making payments on DOS. _________________ Pioneers of Western Swing HOF, Seattle 2005
