Well, I finally have the computer I built up in production.

Highly recommend this configuration.
Target was 2000.00 with software.

Made it.

Already had the FW1884 and other studio stuff.

Box-1275.00 Monitor-200.00

Sound interface is a Tascam FW1884
OS-64 bit Windows Pro
Recording software-Sonar 6 Producer

Everything is 64bit.

It is clockable but I'm looking for stability
and see no need to clock it.

29% CPU usage of only 1 core mixing down 16 tracks.
Awesome.

The barebone server unit is great!
Neat, clean, cool, and quiet.

This hardware came from Newegg.
Excellent service.

Dual core Xeon, 2 500gb SATA hdd's, 4 gigs mem
20" Widescreen Dell monitor
Will be adding a couple more of the SATA's and tweaking the RAID and increasing the storage unit size to accommodate the large audio file sizes.

ASUS TS300-E4/PA4 5U Barebone Server
Intel Xeon 3060 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX805573060
2 Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3500630AS 500GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive
2 A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model ADQVE1A16K
Couple of ASUS dvd burners
Firewire interface
Mouse/keyboard

This configuration is doing a great job with some very complex recording tasks.

If you are looking to build your own,
seriously consider this unit.

Glad you finally got your build up and running and are happy with it. Stability is a really good thing. I finally got the RME Fireface 800 interface and love it but...I then went with the new Sonar 7. Buggie as most new versions are (they've already done the first fix and I'm waiting on the 2nd). Other than the bugs, I've had good success with high track counts (50 to 60) and using quite a few plugins. I'm seriously considering swapping the Core 2 Duo for the Quad Core as they've come down considerably in price.

Best of success!
