I am new to pro tools and have a recording that I am trying to remove the silence before the music starts. I can clear the section but not move all of the grouped tracks to the zero point. Not sure what to do to move them to the left of the window. |

My computer is down right now so I can't bring up Pro Tools to explain, but I'll try.
Use the tool 'Shuffle'
Now set it to 'all'
Highlight the silent part before the music starts.
You might have to create a region out of it.
Since your using the 'all' command, all the silent parts will also be their own region.
So now all the silent regions should be highlighted.
Now use the Delete command, to remove the silence.
The Shuffle - will allow the entire piece to be pulled left, on the timeline. |

If you can convert it to a wav file you can just use windows sound recorder to do this very easily. |

Pro Tools audio files are WAV files- so there is no need to convert anything. Rich's method to do the truncation inside Pro Tools is a far better approach though.

That did the trick! Thanks Rich!
I would have never found that on my own.
