Part of a BBC documentary on Emmylou's career dealing with the aftermath of Gram Parsons death and the formation of the Hot Band. Includes a nice early performance of 'Boulder to Birmingham'. Some Great shots of Hank DeVito, James Burton, etc.

Long time ago. I was record shopping at Aron's Records on Melrose. At one point I looked up and Emmy Lou was going through the bins across from me. I stopped breathing....

Tell the truth now...that was just a ploy to see if she'd give you mouth to mouth, wasn't it? Very Happy

C'est la vie, say the old folks...
"C'est la Vie (You Never Can Tell)", a song originally by Chuck Berry and titled "You Never Can Tell", covered by Bob Seger and Chely Wright, and by Emmylou Harris for her 1977 album Luxury Liner
One of my alltime favorites.

My band "Easy Money" was working on a project with Brian Ahern when he and Emmy were married back in the mid 70's. Brian had the "Enactron" truck, a 48 track studio built into a simi trailer, that was used for alot of live recordings around Los Angeles in those days. We were recording one night at Brian's house up in the Hollywood hills and around 4am I just laid down on the couch and crashed out.
The next thing I knew was, Emmy was shaking my arm and asking me if I wanted coffee and it was daylight outside! She makes good coffee too!

Last Friday was Emmylou Night on BBC Four. A one hour documentary, two one-hour concerts and a 40-minute collection of her appearances on various BBC shows since the early seventies.

And the weeks before that, a series of stunning concerts with Jerry Douglas. That ugly 4ft satellite dish sure comes in handy sometimes!

BTW, Emmylou with the Nash Ramblers in Gothenburg back in '94 was as good as music gets. Nothing I've seen or heard before or since even comes close.

Well, I've studied this. I think it's interesting how EmmyLou metamorphosed from a "pretty girl" into the Beautiful Woman she is today. She just gets better and better!

Of course, it's fun to see that pretty girl jumping around on the stage like she did! (never seen that before!)

Thanks,

Rick Jolley
