Jerry, I Listened to one of your Original jazz tunes. And it was just great!
I checked out your tuning and you have about three changes that are not on the normal C6 setup.
All excellent.
The LL G down a whole tone to F.
The 8th pedal A to B maj7th but with added F to G on 9th string gives a full C bottom intead of F bottom.
The A to Bb pull next to the pedal 6 can be use with it very nicely.
Putting the usual 7th pedal CMaj7 on a Knee makes it possible to play that with pedals 5 and 6 without taking the foot off the volume pedal.
All very good pulls.
These are the type of pulls that I have incorporated in my E6 -S12 tuning.
Keep up with that kind of stuff and maybe we will get the Pedal Steel Guitar in the mainstream of public approval......al[This message was edited by Al Marcus on 24 September 2000 at 10:13 PM.] |

Thanks, Al. Actually, none of these tunes are original, most are just part of the standard jazz repetiore. Most of the changes and additions on my C6 are the result of analyzing what types of chords and which voicings I used most often, and rearranging the setup so I don't have to dance around on the pedals as much. This setup works for me, but others have used different and equally valid ways to get there.
Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm having a lot of fun with this project. My playing isn't getting a whole lot better, but I'm learning a lot about recording. I have some new work in progress, and I'm re-doing some of my earlier efforts. At some point, I will offer CD's to anyone who's interested in (much) better quality recordings of the music than mp3's can offer.  |

| Thanks, Bobby. The Leslie sound comes from a Peavey Max 100 processor, which is something I don't generally recommend for steel guitar, but it does have a nice Leslie patch that "spins" up and down with a foot switch. It's a good guitar processor, sturdy and very versatile, but it's a little noisy and lacking in headroom for pedal steel, IMO. |

I also like your computer generated artwork.
I hope you don't mind, but I'm using "3D Steel" as the wallpaper on my computer. It looks great.
