Chimer Records is pleased to announce the upcoming CD release of “James
and John—Upon An Instrument of Ten Strings”, featuring renowned Hall of
Fame steel guitarists Jimmie Crawford and John Hughey. This special
rendering of Gospel favorites has yet to leave a listener untouched by
the sheer emotion and anointing that is upon it.

The CD was originally recorded in1979 and 1980 by Jimmie and John Macy,
along with John Hughey. For reasons known and unknown, the project
languished on the shelf until recently, when rough mixes resurfaced,
convincing all parties that the record needed to be released. The CD
also features such fine players as Hargus “Pig” Robbins on piano, Buddy
Spicher on fiddles, Leo Jackson on guitars, and Pam Rose and Mary Ann
Kennedy on background vocals.

The CD is dedicated to the memory of Gary Hogue, who stepped in to help
restore the tapes and mixed the record in his studio. This is perhaps
the last project Gary worked on, and it seems fitting that it was a
tribute to the wonders of the Lord’s way. We will miss him deeply.

Watch for a street date in late June/early July. The CD will be
available at both Jimmie and John’s websites, at their live appearances,
as well as through the usual steel distributors. Don’t miss the chance
to catch these two Hall of Fame members together on this unique
recording.
