Got any pics to look at? My 41 NY has a metal fretboard so I am not familiar with the acrylic ones. It must really be warped to interfere with string action.

I believe Sherwood was a brand used by Montgomery Wards stores. They bought mostly from Kay and Harmony, but like Mark and Noah have said, this one was made by Kay in Chicago.
