I own a 2003 RP D10 9 x 9 and a lacquer 2009 G2 SD10 5 x 5. I'm happy playing both steels. And great service from Mike Mantay!
If it's a cost factor then go with whichever you can afford.

I'm with you Lane. I like the use of the LKR lowering the E's and combining this with the RKR second string Lower.
