No; it was never stained walnut originally. Originally the finish is that blonde paint on ALL those until 1961.

Oh my gosh keep that Barrel Tuning Pro 2, out of all the other ones. that's the best guitar ever made for sound and playability. That's exactly what my Lloyd Green model is except one neck.

Yes there should be a "Allen head Set Screw" in the bracket to hold the axle.
