I was surprised to see she uses a TubeScreamer. I have heard on here several times that that has too much mids for steel. Obviously work for her though

I’ve been fortunate to see Larkin Poe l ...

One of the things I like about my '64 Jet Airliner (besides the included legs) is that the volume and tone knobs and 1/4" jack are on the far side of the strings. Some of these steels have a knob ...

Good point, Allan --Gadd4 makes sense. This tuning lets me attempt to cop some Sonny Landreth licks (which is why I tried it in the first place) and I can sound a little pedal steely, which can be fun ...

Gsus4 for me. I never use the low B in dobro tuning, so I just left it out (like Keith Richards). That gives me power chords on the low end. Iadded a C as the “first” string so I can suspend chord ...

For G tuning on a 23” or 22.5” scale, standard reso gauges work for me, although I have dropped the .056 to .054, because the 56 gets a little thuddy. There’s always trade offs- too heavy and th ...

Nice buy, Jim! I have a 1964 (according to the serial number) Jet Airliner. It has a two-tone plastic wrap finish. By lifting the control plate, I could see the plastic film was very thin. I’m guess ...

Looks like the steel is encapsulated in foam and then a hard outer shell?

That’s exactly it. The back shell is fiberglass and there’s a t ...
