I've managed to avoid Avast with CCleaner free edition. Not sure that I've ever even had it offered to me, but you have to always be on the lookout for what they might try to sneak by you.

I'm much more dependent on the real time backup than I am on imaging, now that I think about it.

Are you using Acronis to make this "real time backup"?

I'd try to have some data backup ...
