He's the guy who convinced me to switch from a D10 to a universal. The steel guitar world lost one it's most influential and irreplicable figures that day. I'm proud to have known him.

You could find the right size blade pickup and the string spacing wouldn't matter. It'd prolly sound better too. Or get into slanting.....

The trick is to have it just barely graze the top of your knee at rest. If it's shaped wrong or too short, go out in your shop and fabricate a new one that sits just right. If the case won't close, fi ...

"Chicken Stuff" was my favorite tune of his. Hop use to play a Stringmaster laying on a folding card table which also held his cigarettes, ashtray, a glass and a bottle of hootch.

I saw a picture of a bar a few years ago that was a basic bullet bar about the size of a 10 string pedal steel bar and it had a steel ring coming out of the middle of it that could swivel. It seems li ...

It looks like the legs are a fixed length. There's got to be a way to at least level the back legs right?

Can a person still get parts for that guitar if they wanted to add a pedal or another lever or just add a couple pulls to existing levers?

Swap out the half-ass pickup for a nice 8 string pickup. A lot of the mojo of those guitars' tone comes from the large horseshoe magnets. The internal pickup is not particularly special. Its the huge ...

I too play an A6 8-string tuned like this

E
C#
A
F#
E
C#
A
G

The 7th on the bottom opens up some nice combinations for western swing and bluesy jazz like a Dom7#9 among other things. If I ...
