What you are looking at is a Lollar string-through pickup.
It requires very little modification to the guitar and the tone is amazing.

I use a 20 degree thumbpick made by Zookies.
It helped remove all of that scraping sound on the string and they are comfortable.
They come in 10, 20 and 30 degree angles.

looks and feels like bakelite. It's black and very hard.

I have had a Lehle Mono 90 for about a year now.
This is the model with the jacks on the side.
It is very smooth, doesn't color the tone at all.
Best pedal I have owned.
And no darn string to brea ...

I like the little amp a lot.

I use Audacity.
It's simple and I can modify it for whatever reason if I want to before I export it to an mp3.

My advice is worth about 7 cents, before taxes.
I have never been able to use a lap steel while on legs or in my lap.
The legs would either wobble a bit or they would get in the way as they were too ...
