Check out some of the Electro Harmonix pedals. B9, C9, Mel9 etc. Might not be what you’re going for but they definitely alter the tone in a big way without needing midi pickups.

If so - I'm curious what brand of string fits into the changer? I can't go higher than a .54 or the winding near the ball end simply won't fit in the changer slot as the slot is too narrow. Hoping ...

Anybody still making/selling these on here? Did a search and only found really old posts or sold out. Pedal Steel Guitar parts website is sold out as well.

David, that makes total sense and I figured as much. I might add those pulls to be able to get backup rhythm chunky muted strumming when needed. Just can’t do that with skip strings in the way.

Definitely thinking about going back to the wound after several gigs with the plain. I've never spent so much time before fussing about with that string. So finicky!

As others have said - A and B pedals and E raises and lowers is as stripped down as I'd ever go. At that point you can play more like a straight steel player but with access to 4 different tunings o ...

+1 for the Encore. For local gigs I don't even break it down. I just lay it down flat on its front in the rear of my hatchback and put it over my shoulder and carry it in to the venue one armed. I ...

I only have one on string 7 when I use the A pedal. It flattens it just a hair to so the F# is a little sweeter with AB pedals down for a minor chord. Never found the need to do any others.

Something I didn't realize at first is that pressing the A pedal and F raises lever together puts you in the 135135 dobro tuning on 10,8,6,5,4,3. Its been a good way for me to port over some closed po ...

I recently switched from using a wound .22 to a .20 plain. I love the softer feel/shorter throw on the full step knee lever lower but the string itself now feels like a rubber band and is much more f ...

I never thought about splitting 0 and A to cancel out the 10 and 5 drop as I already have the 6 lower to f# on a knee. I’m guessing it’s some tricky rod timing to prevent that simultan ...
