I voted "E" as I don't use any tunings with higher pitches on the first string.

I did try a Cajun tuning once that had a high G but I didn't like it so it's back to an E on top.

AFAIK, the key thing of the tuning is to have the upper A6 style melody space...

Another good one, very authentic for the era, is A6th: A C# E F# A C# E. Cool

Those slants come from Jerry Byrd. Jerry used the 10-11-12 reverse slant often in a V to I chord context. I use it in Country and Hawaiian contexts. Like so (key of G) ....

That's the beauty of C6 (or A6)as a base tuning. It's adjacent to many other tunings with a few twists of tuners.

Any A6 tuning is going to have a 1,3,5, and 6th.

So:
E
C#
A
F#

...then usually E and C#. I don't know what a B is doing in that A6 you mention. I have seen that bottom string tun ...

al advantage that I can see.

Things I didn't love...the pickup...it was kinda noisy (single coil, naturally) and the string balance from the factory was off...certain strings were not aligned with ...
