I don't think I'd do anything more than having the magnets recharged. Maybe check the pot and tone cap values. Anything else would affect its collector value and you already own a couple of guitars ...

Most Valco products have a serial number plate on the backside. Your's would probably start with a V or an X. If you can find it, here's the webpage to look it up:

With the exception of a Fender Champ, 5 Watt vintage amps don't seem to bring a lot, usually around $250 for a nice working one. I would say that because of the really nice MOTS and grill on yours it ...

Might cost some $$$ to get 'er back to snuff; but that amp has a LOOK that's absolutely precious!!!!!

Agreed. Do you know how much you'd need to get for it if you do sell it as is?

For me: Combo amp = one less trip to the parking lot. Plus, I like vintage amps which are usually combos. I don't need a twin for lap steel.

I wasn't familiar with that device. Looks like they're about $35 each in the U.S. Could get expensive pretty quickly if you need to change more than one string. Once it is set up, does it return to ...

One of the great thing about auctions is the market sets the price. Maybe if there was a way to auction it among people who were pre-qualified as being a “good home”? Just an idea.
