I use the Electro-Harmonix Hum DeBugger. Yes, it changes the sound a bit; but in some cases that is preferable to the nasty, ugly, unmusical hum. Makes single coils usable in a bad hum environment.

SWR Workingman's 15 doesn't hold a candle to the Basic Black. It's way too heavy, and doesn't sound as good. The LA 15 is even worse.

Get an Electro-Harmonix Hum Debugger.

Prices for Rickenbachers have been dropping on eBay. Six months ago, a 1935 would cost you $1800. Today, someone got an early '40s one for $550.

I use an ElectroHarmonix Hum Debugger for suppression of single-coil hum. It DOES change the sound, but at least I can practice without that annoying hum! I probably wouldn't want to record ...
