Heard about Phil's passing this morning. Another icon is gone.

Here are just a few I've my favorite Chess recordings:

J. B. Lenoir

Muddy Waters

Sonny Boy Williamson

Howlin' Wolf

Eddie Boyd

And a recording made at Chess Studios around the time Leonard Chess Died (1969)
Featuring Muddy Waters' piano player, the legendary Otis Spann with backing from Peter Green, John McVie and Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac

Yeah, Glenn!

There were I think 7 Chess singles on their short-lived country series--all done in Shreveport at the KWKH studios circa 1954-55 and all Hayride artists.

I'd imagine all are on youtube.

Jack Ford - That's All You Gotta Do/I Understand Just How You Feel

Jimmy & Johnny - If You Don't, Somebody Else Will/I'm Beginning To Remember

Wayne Walker - You Got the Best Of Me/Now Is The Time For Love

Carolyn Bradshaw - Oh! I Like It/This Is the Night

Jimmy Lee & Johnny Mathis - Can't You, Won't You/The Fun Is Over

Jimmy Lee and Wayne Walker - Love Me/Lips That Kiss So Sweetly

Jack Ford - Yankee Dime/Teach Me to Love

The only hit was "If You Don't, Somebody Else Will".

Hot steel guitar by Sonny Trammell on "Love Me".
