I was wondering if anyone had any clues to any decent gigs in or near the Nashville area. I have played several venues downtown and around, but the pay stinks for the most part. I have a butt-kicking country band and need a couple of pretty good places to play. Any suggestions?

Alan, I think the path to the GIG is the same in every City..

Someone has to spend the time....

research the scene...

hit the streets, knock on doors...

earn a reputation

I think it's humor, not sure, but I enjoyed reading this blog on the subject: http://adammcintyre.headphonetreats.com/blog/index.php?p=24

After 10 years in N'ville this guy went back to Atlanta, so take it FWIW.

Well,. guys, that's just it. I've been here for quite some time myself, played quite a bit in town for others, but never made enough to be worth the time, so I guess I'm reaching for something that's unattainable in this town. I think maybe I'm looking for something near, but not IN Nashville. I guess that's how I should have phrased my question.

The heck of it is, I used to live an hour and a half from Dallas in Ardmore, OK and only played in the Dallas area a few times. Now I realize its a great place to play country music and I guess it always has been. So much for staying on the farm under a cowpie for too long!

Oh, yes, I guess if the money was right and we had several gigs in the area we might commute.
